Policy Overview:
In order to continue providing the best possible scheduling options to my guests, I require 24 hours notice should you need to cancel or reschedule your visit with me. Cancellations should be made via the links sent to you from confirmation/reminder texts or email: hello@emilystrangehair.com
Should you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice, or fail to show up for a scheduled appointment, either:
- a $25 per re-booking fee applies and will be due before a new appointment is scheduled
OR
- a 25% deposit is required at time of booking. This deposit will be retained but can be moved to a new date if the appointment is cancelled. This deposit will be applied towards services redeemed.
A credit card is required to secure your appointment. Appointments canceled within 24 hours or for which clients do not arrive on time for will incur a charge of $25 per service to the card on file at the time of cancellation/no show.
Please note, I am generally booked out three or more weeks so you will have to wait sometimes to get scheduled back on my calendar.
Mutual Responsibility Clause:
Should I need to cancel a session due to unexpected illness, unsafe weather conditions, power outages, or other major unforeseen events with less than 24 hours notice, a service credit in the amount of $25 will be added to your guest profile and applied at your next visit. I will make every attempt to reschedule you back on my calendar within 10 days of the missed appointment.
Medical & Safety Exception Clause:
Should you need to cancel your appointment due to unexpected illness, unsafe weather conditions, power outages, or other major unforeseen events with less than 24 hours notice, the cancellation policy above applies as I will not be able to fill your booking in time, which causes a financial hardship on me and my family. The way to avoid these charges is to be sure you arrive on time or cancel your appointment with more than 24 hours notice.
I will honor $25 off your next identical service and do all we can to reschedule your appointment in a timely manner. Here at Emily Strange Hair, we understand that accidents and emergencies happen that prevent 24 hour notice for cancelling or rescheduling your appointment. Salon members are given one (1) grace appointment a year for last minute scheduling changes, cancellations, or no-shows.
In order to continue providing the best possible service to my guests, I will not allow any clients' late arrival to affect another guest in my business.
If you arrive to the salon more than 5 minutes past your scheduled appointment start time, we will not be able to complete all of your services scheduled for the day.
You can choose to eliminate the cut, treatment, waxing, or blow-dry service. However, the cancellation policy will be in effect for those services and the cancellation fee will be imposed, representing 50% of those booked services.
Should you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we will not be able to complete your services and the cancellation fees will apply to all scheduled services.
This policy allows me to always have plenty of time to serve my guests thoroughly and will ensure I am always running on time for you at each visit.
I strive to offer my guests the highest level of guest satisfaction. If you are having challenges with your cut or color, let me know within 7 days of your visit.
If after reviewing the consultation form we completed together, I can see that I missed the mark in the execution of your services, I'm happy to correct the issue with no additional charge.
If you are simply looking for a different result than what was agreed upon in the consultation, I am happy to quote you a refinement rate, which allows us to shift your look based on your new goals.
Every effort will be made to get you back into the salon within 7 days of your redo request.
Please note that if you do not notify me within 7 days of your dissatisfaction, the redo policy becomes null and void and any requested changes will be billed according to my service menu and pricing.
Should you make a retail purchase that you are unsatisfied with, I will accept retail exchanges at full credit for 30 days from your initial purchase.
Retail purchase refunds are not available. I will exchange your purchased product for another product that I believe is better suited to meet your needs and goals.
Product brought to the salon for an exchange between 30-90 days after purchase will be eligible for a 50% exchange credit.
If you bought a product from any of the affiliate links on my website, returns/exchanges must be handled directly from the retailer you purchased from according to their policies.
The safety of salon staff and clients is paramount. As such, I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone I feel may pose a health or safety risk. This includes but is not limited to lice, skin infections, open wounds, contagious illness (continuous cough, displaying fever symptoms), or displays of any rude/obnoxious or otherwise inappropriate behavior. I will demand that you leave the salon, and you will be prohibited from returning either temporarily until the medical condition is resolved or permanently for behavior.
Bookings. Your name, address, email, phone number, and a card on file are required for all appointments.
Services and Pricing. All services and prices may be subject to change without notice.
Payment. For your convenience, I accept all major credit and debit cards, and cash. Payment is due upon completion of your service.
Card Authorization. You authorize me to keep your signature and credit card information securely on file. You also authorize me to charge your credit card for any outstanding balances when due. In the event that no card is on file, an invoice will be sent to the contact information on file and is due upon receipt.
Marketing Emails/Texts. By providing a telephone number and email and submitting the appointment or form you are consenting to be contacted by SMS text message or email from Emily Strange Hair. Message frequency may vary. Text Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out of further text messaging unrelated to appointments or click unsubscribe for marketing emails.
Guests, Minors, and Pets.
Only those with appointments will have reserved spots to be seated.
My salon suite is not child-proof or pet-proof. Hot styling tools, sharp scissors, chemicals, and a busy salon can become a safety hazard.
I also ask that you refrain from bringing any pets other than service animals into the salon.
Smoking and Vaping. Please note that it is illegal to smoke or vape anywhere in our salon.
Personal Items. Please ensure you retrieve all your personal items before leaving our salon as we cannot be held responsible for lost items.
Limitation of Liability. You shall not hold the Emily Henderson, dba Emily Strange Hair; and/or Urban Salon; or our employees liable and agree to indemnify us for any harm, claim, loss, costs, damage, injury, or product reaction to any person or property arising, either directly or indirectly from our service, or any other reason whatsoever.
Dispute Resolution. Any dispute arising from this Agreement must first attempt to be resolved by means of meaningful informal negotiations between Emily Henderson and you. The period for informal negotiations shall be 30 days from receipt of the written notice of the dispute unless such time is modified by written agreement between us. In the event that we cannot resolve a dispute through informal negotiations, we agree to submit the dispute to mediation. Within 21 days following the expiration of the time period for informal negotiations, either Party shall propose and agree upon a neutral and otherwise qualified mediator. In the event either of us fails to agree upon a mediator, either Party shall request that the American Arbitration Association, Topeka, Kansas, appoint a mediator and the mediation will be held in Topeka, Kansas or another mutually agreed venue.
Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws in the State of Kansas.
Entire Agreement. This Agreement represents all the terms and conditions agreed upon between us. No other understanding or representations, oral or otherwise regarding the Agreement shall bind any of us. This Agreement may not be amended, except in writing, and signed by both of us. In any action or proceeding involving a dispute between Emily Strange Hair and you arising out of this Agreement, the prevailing party will be entitled to receive from the losing party reasonable attorney’s fees.

A lot! But seriously, throughout my career I've taken notice to a of most people's frustrations with previous cuts and colors. Those being not knowing what to do at home, not having their hair health concerns addressed in an understandable way, and not having cuts or colors that properly work with instead of against hair texture, type, and growth patterns to minimize frustrations on a daily basis.
Guests often need more in depth guidance when styling and learning better care practices, so sessions are planned to take a bit longer at first so we can address where we are, where we want to be, and how to get there, and what to do at home to have as many best hair days as possible outside of the salon. In some cases, we may discover that a style or routine may not fit into your lifestyle or with your hair type or texture - so we can address other options throughout the consultation process.
To address hair health and concerns, we need to start with a reset. Our hair is often weighed down by build up from the water, products and/or shampoo that are being used at home and are in heavy need of both detoxing and hydration so all first time haircuts include this in the session so we can start fresh for the best results. Additional treatments are offered to further maximize our hair health and address concerns from the start instead of ignoring problems, leading to more frustration at home.
I customize my artistry to work with your natural growth patterns, your facial features, and to enhance or minimize volume or density throughout the head resulting in balanced, well shaped cuts and colors that accent all the best parts of you. I have an arsenal of cut and color techniques from advanced training that allows me to address all your various concerns in ways that work for you and make your life easier when styling at home.
After your first session, we will have a plan for maintenance, at home hair care routines, and you'll have access to my client only "app" where you can go back through all my tips I've shared and have easy access to scheduling your next appointment, or getting in touch with me.

I've noticed that many guests have not gotten the best attention to detail from their previous salon experiences beyond just their main service.
To ensure you get the most from your experience in my chair, my new guest sessions include more time for a more in depth, personalized experience.
I do it this way so we have the foundations set for your hair's optimal potential and so we can work together on building healthy hair routines and care without adding extra stress to you on figuring out what you need or don't need.
I include this extra time for thorough discussions of your hair, desired style and goals going forward to ensure the best possible outcome from our session and throughout I also provide you with education on hair science basics as well as personalized advice on maintenance, products, routines, and treatments.
After you've seen me once, you'll have access to my established guest menu. At each established guest session, we'll touch base on what's been working, what hasn't and address and adjust accordingly to ensure that our plan is heading towards our goals and expectations.
I accept guest appointment requests via the online booking portal that can be found here or you may use the red schedule link at the top of the menu to sign in and schedule.
I do not offer walk in appointments, as I often do not have downtime between clients to accommodate on a whim appointments, however, my booking portal allows for scheduling appointments as short as 12 hours in advance as long as there is availability.
My online booking portal has all of my availability and if there are not times available that work with your schedule, I offer a Wait List should something open that fits your needs and VIP After Hour appointments at premium rates for those who need further accommodations.
Always! If you are unsure what you need or if we are a good fit, I offer in person New Guest Consultations. These must be scheduled via the online booking portal and usually take 30 minutes.
Some services such as custom colors and vivid's require a consultation prior to the session. This is so we can ensure accuracy in our plan and I can provide you with a quote for the custom color session. These quotes are valid 3 months after the consultation.
Haircut Sessions: Please arrive with clean, dry hair. Optionally, you may style it how you usually wear it for your haircut.
Curl Cut Sessions: Please arrive with clean, fully dry hair with no product. Please avoid sleeping on hair, braids, headbands, hats, or hair ties/scrunchies in hair as they can disrupt the curl patterns. Failure to arrive with hair prepped as requested may result in an extra charge and time added to properly prep the hair prior to the cut.
Color Sessions: Clean, dry hair with minimal to no product is best for color sessions.
I accept cash and credit/debit at the appointment and can accept Tap to Pay via mobile devices and cards.
I DO NOT accept Venmo, CashApp, Paypal, or Checks for any reason.
It depends on your hair length and goals, but generally I see most guests every 4-12 weeks to maintain their hair's health or color. In some cases you may need to plan for more often or less often.
Using color safe shampoos, minimizing heat, washing with warm water versus hot, and scheduling mini-sessions such as glosses, mini highlight sessions, and root refreshes for minimal maintenance can all help maintain color and maximize time between full visits. Depending on your maintenance goals, I'll suggest the recommended sessions for in between full visits during our session.
I provide three levels of treatments.
My entry level treatment is a Hydration Masque for at the bowl, 5-10 min deep conditioning which is good for dry, frizzy, or unruly hair.
My mid-level treatment is a Steam Hydration Masque which is good for dry and/or damaged, stressed or hard to comb/tangles easily hair as the steam allows the treatment to penetrate deeper and provide more shine and hair nourishment than the treatment alone.
My top-level treatment is specifically for those who need a custom treatment for a variety of concerns or more in-depth management of their hair's condition to target both hydration and strength concerns. This treatment is best for those with extremely dry and hard to manage hair, or those with breakage, weak, fragile hair, or chemical damage.
