policies
All appointments require a VALID card on file to secure your booking. NO EXCEPTIONS. This ensures your spot is held and allows me to enforce cancellation and no-show policies fairly.
Late cancellations, no shows, or rebooking fees will be charged to the card on file as stated in the cancellation policy.
Please have the card you wish to use for session payment with you at time of service. The form of payment you would like to use must be present at the time of payment.
All appointments require 24-hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Use the links in your confirmation or reminder emails/texts.
• Late cancellations (>24-hours) or reschedules incur a $25 re-booking fee charged to the card on file.
• No shows incur a $25 fee per service scheduled to the card on file.
I am generally booked 3+ weeks in advance. Last minute changes can affect your ability to secure a timely reschedule.
MUTUAL RESPECT CLAUSE
If I must cancel due to illness or other unforeseen emergencies or scheduling conflicts, a $25 credit will be applied to your client profile for your next visit. I will make every effort to reschedule you promptly, within my available hours.
GRACE CLAUSE
Established guests recieve one (1) annual grace appointment for last-minute cancellations, reschedules, or no-shows. After that, the standared $25 fee applies.
SAFETY EXCEPTION CLAUSE
Emergencies happen. If you cannot make your appointment due to illness, unsafe weather, or other major unforeseen events, the 24-hour cancellation rule still applies. My schedule can't be filled at the last minute, and short notice creates a financial impact.
That said, I will work with you to reschedule promptly, and honor $25 off your next identical session to credit the initial late cancellation fee paid, if circumstances are legitimate. Established guests may still use their one annual grace appointment in these cases.
Respect my time, and I’ll respect yours. No exceptions beyond what’s stated here.
Late arrivals affect everyone— so your time is as important as mine.
• 5-10 minutes late: We may need to shorten or remove some services. No changes to your session pricing will be made.
• 15+ minutes late: Your services cannot be completed, and full cancellation fees apply OR for longer color appointments, we may need to shorten or remove some services.
• Habitual tardiness: A $15 fee will be incurred if you are late to 3 or more appointments in a year.
This ensures every guest receives my full attention and every appointment stays on schedule.
The safety of my clients, co-stylists, and myself is non-negotiable. I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who poses a health or safety risk or exhibits rude, disruptive, or inappropriate behavior.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Lice, skin infections, or open wounds on the head, face, or neck.
Contagious illness (fever, continuous coughing/sneezing, etc.)
Any behavior that is disrespectful, aggressive, sexual, unsafe, or otherwise makes me or others uncomfortable.
If a situation arises, you will be asked to leave immediately. Return may be temporarily restricted until health or behavior concerns are resolved or permanently prohibited if boundaries are violated.
Your satisfaction matters—but boundaries matter too. If you are having an issue with your cut or color, you must notify me within 7 days of your appointment.
• If I missed the mark based on our consultation, I will correct it at no additional charge.
• If you want a different result than what was agreed upon, a refinement rate will apply to shift your look to your new goals.
I make every effort to get adjustments scheduled as early as possible after your request.
After 7 days post initial service, the adjustment policy expires. Any requested changes beyond that window will be billed according to the standard service menu.
IN SALON
Retail purchases can be exchanged for full credit within 30 days of your purchase if the product is 3/4 full or more. Refunds are not available. Exchanges will be for a product I determine is better suited to your hair and goals or credit will be applied to your client profile to be used towards later sessions.
Products returned 30-90 days after purchase or less than 3/4 full are eligible for a 50% credit toward another product or future session.
ONLINE PURCHASES
Products purchased through affiliate links on my website must be returned or exchanged directly through the retailer, according to their policies.
Bookings. Your name, address, email, phone number, and a card on file are required for all appointments.
Services and Pricing. All services and prices may be subject to change without notice.
Payment. For your convenience, I accept all major credit and debit cards, and cash. Payment is due upon completion of your service.
Card Authorization. You authorize me to keep your signature and credit card information securely on file. You also authorize me to charge your credit card for any outstanding balances when due. In the event that no card is on file, an invoice will be sent to the contact information on file and is due upon receipt.
Marketing Emails/Texts. By providing a telephone number and email and submitting the appointment or form you are consenting to be contacted by SMS text message or email from Emily Strange Hair. Message frequency may vary. Text Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out of further text messaging unrelated to appointments or click unsubscribe for marketing emails.
Guests, Minors, and Pets.
Only those with appointments will have reserved spots to be seated.
My salon suite is not child-proof or pet-proof. Hot styling tools, sharp scissors, chemicals, and a busy salon can become a safety hazard.
I also ask that you refrain from bringing any pets other than service animals into the salon.
Smoking and Vaping. Please note that it is illegal to smoke or vape anywhere in our salon.
Personal Items. Please ensure you retrieve all your personal items before leaving our salon as we cannot be held responsible for lost items.
Limitation of Liability. You shall not hold the Emily Henderson, dba Emily Strange Hair; and/or Urban Salon; or our employees liable and agree to indemnify us for any harm, claim, loss, costs, damage, injury, or product reaction to any person or property arising, either directly or indirectly from our service, or any other reason whatsoever.
Dispute Resolution. Any dispute arising from this Agreement must first attempt to be resolved by means of meaningful informal negotiations between Emily Henderson and you. The period for informal negotiations shall be 30 days from receipt of the written notice of the dispute unless such time is modified by written agreement between us. In the event that we cannot resolve a dispute through informal negotiations, we agree to submit the dispute to mediation. Within 21 days following the expiration of the time period for informal negotiations, either Party shall propose and agree upon a neutral and otherwise qualified mediator. In the event either of us fails to agree upon a mediator, either Party shall request that the American Arbitration Association, Topeka, Kansas, appoint a mediator and the mediation will be held in Topeka, Kansas or another mutually agreed venue.
Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws in the State of Kansas.
Entire Agreement. This Agreement represents all the terms and conditions agreed upon between us. No other understanding or representations, oral or otherwise regarding the Agreement shall bind any of us. This Agreement may not be amended, except in writing, and signed by both of us. In any action or proceeding involving a dispute between Emily Strange Hair and you arising out of this Agreement, the prevailing party will be entitled to receive from the losing party reasonable attorney’s fees.
